Make-A-Wish Wisconsin
During Katie’s yearlong battle with leukemia, we remember walking with her through the halls of Johns Hopkins Hospital and seeing sick children attached to their IV poles, being pulled in wagons by their parents, or other loving caregivers. It was heart breaking. Katie would find it so hard to imagine if it was her little daughter Gracie or any child going through what she was experiencing. Given Katie’s compassionate nature and her love of children, granting wishes to children struggling with life-threatening illnesses was the perfect way to honor her. To date, we have donated $32,500to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin to sponsor wishes for some incredible children!
2019
DOMINIC
Dominic was our 2019 “Wish Kid” who was diagnosed with leukemia the summer of 2018. He is an energetic little guy who loves super heroes, making people laugh and idolizes his older brother Grant. His wish is to go to Disney World, which was planned for the spring of 2020. However, due to the pandemic it has been postponed. Dominic and his family are hoping that they can make the trip sometime in 2021.
Since granting Dominic's wish, his parents, family and friends have become ardent supporters of We Believe in Katie. They sponsored a golf event for We Believe and offered their help with our spring benefits. It has been our pleasure to grant Dominic's wish and to get to know his terrific family!
2018
The funds raised at our 2018 benefit made it possible for us to grant two wishes.
The first wish was for Ilya a 6 year old boy from Middleton battling leukemia. His wish was to have a guitar and all of the accessories. He is now a rock star!
The second wish was for Gloria, a 3-year-old little girl from Madison who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia (the same type of leukemia as Katie’s). She wishes to go to DisneyWorld. Her wish will be granted after her current round of chemotherapy. We look at these little faces and know we are bringing joy to their challenging lives.
2017
ETHAN
In 2017, we learned about Ethan, an 11 year-old boy from Milton, WI. With our supporters generosity, we were able to grant his wish to go to Disney World. His moving story further reinforced our belief that giving to this worthwhile organization is what Katie would have wanted. Click here to learn more about Ethan and his wish.
